Program Overview

Learning The Original Bowen Therapy Methodology

Bowen Therapy is taught in 8 modules of 2 days each. It can be learned comfortably in 4 to 6 months or longer where required.

  • Students can use and practice the procedures learned at each module immediately, you will be encouraged to do so as learning any ‘hands-on’ therapy requires constant practice and feedback. Each pair of modules is taught about a month or two apart to allow for this important practice.
  • Patient management is a key component of the course and time is allocated at each module for lifestyle modification recommendations and deeper understanding for the process of becoming well. This is provided through case studies presented by each instructor and those brought to class by students.
  • Each new module provides a complete and ongoing review and refinement of the previously taught procedures.
  • The 6th module is followed by an exam yielding a designation of CBP ™ (Certified Bowen Practitioner™).
  • The 8th module is followed by an exam yielding a desgnatin of CBT™ (Certified Bowen Therapist™).
  • Continuing Education credits are given by most professional assocaiations in Canada and the US for the Bowen Therapy training provided by the North American Bowen Teaching College™.
  • Students come from many different backgrounds and practices, even different careers. As befitting Tom Bowen’s legacy all are welcome to take part in the training. Many people take only a part of the training in order to care for family, freinds and even animals.

Since Bowen Therapists are not yet regulated in any provincial jurisdiction in Canada, no formal scope of practice exists. Enrollment

Training at North American Bowen Teaching College™ is open to all people interested. In fact, everyone is most welcome. Enroll now.

Prerequisites

None.

Fee per Module

$390.00 + GST. If repeating any module, there is a 20% discount.

Deposit

$100.00 per module. Non-refundable within 30 days prior notice of cancellation.

Certification Prerequisites

120 hours in anatomy & physiology completed by Module 6. Current CPR course (renewable each 2 years). The student can complete these course during their Bowen Therapy training of Modules 1 thru 6 but must have completed all prerequisites before attending Module 7.

Continuing Education

24 hours Continuing Education Unit hours are required each two years to maintain full registered member status with Bowen Canada & Bowen Therapsits Federation of North America Inc. (BTFNA).

Professional & association CEU’s are generally accepted by most professional associations in Canada & US.

CBP

Certified Bowen Practitioner is granted by (BTFNA) The Bowen Therapists Federation of North America Inc. & Bowen Canada on completion of:

  • Modules 1-6
  • 120 hours Anatomy – Physiology
  • 100 clinical hours
  • The Bowen Therapy Certification Exam
CBT

Certified Bowen Therapist is granted by (BTFNA) The Bowen Therapists Federation of North America Inc. through Bowen Canada on completion of:

  • Modules 1-8
  • 120 hours Anatomy – Physiology
  • 500 clinical hours
  • The Bowen Therapy Certification Exam

Curriculum

The official Bowen Canada & Bowen Therapists Federation of North America Inc. protocol for teaching the Original Bowen Method is for the 8 modules to be taught over a period of 6 – 9 months. Each pair of 2 Modules are scheduled over 4 days. In some circumstances due to scheduling issues and travel convenience this can vary. Ultimately, the training should amount to 160 hours for Modules 1 though 8.
